I am a writer.

And I found my home on Substack. If you’ve never heard of Substack and you like to read, then you’re missing out. It’s a bit like a cross between blogging and social media, but with the emphasis on long form writing. I can spend days hours there reading high quality, interesting, well researched personal essays.

My own Substack publication, Creative Reframing is about resilience and reinvention, particularly in the case of mid-life career change. Ultimately, it’s about taking a risk to live a more creative and purposeful life.

You can subscribe to Creative Reframing and/or any other publications you like the look of - there are recommendations on my page there. Or just poke around and see what you find.

I’d love to see you there :)

Other places I’ve been published

In 2016 I wrote a book called Maternity Leavers: What to do about work now you’re a mum. It’s a bit dated now but you can still buy it on Amazon :)

I wrote the chapter on Gambling for the second edition of Shades of Deviance, published in 2022.

Going back a bit a lot, I was once a regular contributor for the Huffington Post and I wrote an article for Tiny Buddha called Finding the Strength to Leave: Run Toward, Not Away (which is an awful title - the article is ok though!)

In 2025 the book Embracing the Unknown: Experiences of Studying for a PhD in the Social Sciences was published. I wrote the chapter on balancing family life. I then went on to fail my PhD, but that’s another story
